En février, j’ai visité la Section Aérienne Gendarmerie de Chamonix (Choucas 74) dans les Alpes françaises. Après la communication avec les gens au QG de la BA107 Villacoublay et le commandant de la base, il était temps de voyager en France. Pour ce voyage je pourrais emmener mon fils avec moi. C’était notre premier voyage photo en tant que père et fils, ce qui était génial. Aussi, mon ami, Frederic MALLERET nous a rejoint pendant ce voyage, qui était très sympa !
Au cours de cette visite, j’ai eu l’occasion de voler avec l’EC145 en montagne pour l’entraînement au treuillage, les conditions de brouillard givrant, etc. Plus tard au cours de cette visite, j’ai eu la chance de piloter l’AS350 Écureuil comme navire photo pour photographier l’hélicoptère EC145 lors d’une séance photo air-air, et de le photographier lors de ses atterrissages sur la pente escarpée avec des roches enneigées. C’était un défi pour moi à cause des vents violents. Le pilote n’était pas sûr de voler, donc nous avons dû garder l’appareil en mode vol et faire des rotations autour du sujet. Et en prime, l’hélicoptère H145D3 de la Sécurité Civile est aussi venu dans notre coin, et il a rejoint la formation.
Pendant les opérations d’entraînement de nuit, j’ai eu la chance de voler avec eux dans les montagnes pour récupérer des personnels positionnés en hauteur. Et quelle belle expérience ce fut ! Malheureusement, il n’a pas été possible de prendre de bonnes photos pendant cette mission de nuit. C’est parce qu’il faisait totalement sombre dans l’hélicoptère.
Et enfin, j’ai pu aussi photographier les hélicoptères sur la DZ la nuit alors qu’ils se préparent pour leur vol.

My first throwback to 2025... In February, I visited the Section Aérienne Gendarmerie de Chamonix (Choucas 74) in the French Alps. After the communication with the people at the HQ at BA107 Villacoublay and the base commander, it was time to travel to France. For this trip, I could take my son with me. This was our first photo trip as father and son, which was great. Also, my friend, Frederic MALLERET joined us during this trip, which was very nice !
During this visit, I had the opportunity to fly with the EC145 into the mountains for the hoist training, whiteouts, etc. Later during this visit, I had the chance to fly the AS350 Écureuil as a photo ship to photograph the EC145 helicopter during an air-to-air photo shoot, and to photograph it during its landings on the steep slope with snow-covered rocks. This was challenging for me because of the strong winds. It was not safe for the pilot to hover, so we had to keep the aircraft in flying mode and fly rounds around the subject. And as a bonus, the H145D3 helicopter of the Sécurité Civile also came to our area, and it joined the formation.
During the night training operations, I had the chance to fly with them into the mountains to pick up people positioned high. And what a great experience this was ! Unfortunately, it was not possible to take good pictures during this night mission. This is because it was totally dark in the helicopter.
And finally, I could also photograph the helicopters on the platform at night as they prepare for their flight.
